#1 Tee
It is no secret that a first impression is a lasting impression. This being the case, Charlie and Cedric felt it was time for an
overhaul at the first tee.
Once the trees came down, we were asked to plant some smaller shrubs to help protect the starters shed area from errant golf shots. We chose
plants, trees, and shrubs that would not only compliment the area, but also provide the necessary protection without ruining the view.
Step 1
Our first step was probably our most difficult. We needed to convince the board to approve the removal of the two pine trees directly to the left of
the first tee. Fortunately we have a board that values the opinion and knowledge of its resident experts. Those two trees were not only preventing
golfers from using the left side of the tee, but the were also drawing valuable nutrients away from the turf.
Step 2
Our next step involved repairing the current state of the tee. We began by squaring up the tee. We removed the rough grass in the corners and
replaced it with bentgrass. This is something we would like to eventually do to all the tees. Next we repaired the large low spot in the middle left of
the tee. By simply stripping the turf and adding sand, we are potentially saving future turf damage done by standing water. Following that we
re-evaluated the irrigation to make it more effective.
Step 3
Step 4
Our final step was simply laying down the rough sod. We decided to replace all the thin and unappealing sod directly surrounding the tee. This also
gave us a chance to make the area between the first tee and the clubhouse paver's much nicer. The overall result was phenomenal. The area as a
whole looks brighter and more inviting. Plus the view from inside the clubhouse is not only nicer, but allows you to see more of the golf course then
ever before.
Throughout this project we received many nice compliments on the changes and the vision that Charlie and Cedric had
before the project even started. We appreciate your appreciation for our hard work and desire to constantly make this golf
course better. As always we couldn't have been successful without your patience and the hard work provided to us by our
staff.
